BRSA Updates the Limit for Credit Rating

Recent Developments

The Banking Regulatory and Supervisory Authority (“BRSA“), with its decision dated April 17, 2025 and numbered 11199 (“Amendment Decision“), has increased the total risk threshold for a credit rating from TRY 500 million to TRY 750 million.

What Does the Amendment Decision Say?

According to the BRSA decision dated September 10, 2020 and numbered 9133 (“Decision“), companies other than banks and financial institutions with a total risk, including the loan to be made, of TRY 500 million or more, based on the most recent data from the Risk Center of the Banks Association of Türkiye (Türkiye Bankalar Birliği Risk Merkezi), were required to obtain a credit rating from a rating agency authorized by the BRSA.

Pursuant to the Amendment Decision, the TRY 500 million limit has been increased to TRY 750 million.
